Montana Master’s Swimming Record Holder and Six-decade Champion of Montana Swimming – Bob McKinnon – Has Died

Robert Scott “Bob” McKinnon, a Montana Master’s Swimming record holder, former top-ten ranked Master’s Nationals swimmer, former championship high school and club coach, and six-decade swim instructor, died of esophageal cancer on July 7th.  McKinnon, who grew up in Oakland and swam for his father Gus, a UC Berkely assistant swim coach and YMCA club coach, was a high school YMCA All-American who brought California-style competitive swimming to Montana when he was awarded a full-ride scholarship to the University of…
