Hello Fellow Swimmers,

We’ve been inactive for a while but all sorts of things have been happening lately, so we wanted to take a moment and highlight them. 

The most important is the club’s name change.  During the club elections, the votes came in with sweeping results to change the club’s name to Big Sky Montana Masters Swim Club (BSMT).  This is an exciting change and helps eliminate the confusion during annual registration with our Montana LMSC.

Now that we have a new name, we’d like to go all out and get a new logo too. The new logo will be used on banners for swim meets, maybe on swim caps, and towels also.  We’d like to invite all our members to join in a logo contest!  Send us a design of what you think our new logo should look like, and if your logo gets chosen we’ll send you a gift card for $100 to swimoutlet.com!  We only want to use two colors in the new logo and we’ve already chosen blue as one of them.  So sketch out your idea and give it some color, then send it in an attachment to Elaina Summers at summersmojo@gmail.com.   Our deadline for entries will be Friday, September 23th. 

During the elections, we also voted on a new board for the club.  Here’s what the new board looks like:

Glenn DeHekker is our new president, from Whitefish

Sean Phelps is the new vice-president from Billings

Peggy Stringer is staying on with us as the treasurer, from Helena

Mandy Barnings is our new secretary, from Hamilton

Elaina Summers is our new communications chair, from Helena

Nancy Schuber is our new events/scholarship chair, from Whitefish 

As a new board, we’re already having fun looking ahead to events, and opportunities to plan or get involved in to promote more members participation and a chance to meet some of you maybe at an open water competition or perhaps a strokes clinic.

 So remember, send us your design for the new logo contest by September 23, and if you’re the winner we’ll send you a gift card for Swimoutlet.com.  Early in October we’ll announce the winner and post the new logo to our Facebook Group page Montana Masters Swimming (to be changed soon).  Stay tuned!
