Several swimmers from Big Sky Montana Masters traveled to St. George, UT last month to compete in the Huntsman World Senior Games. Elayne Hartter and Anne Hossner of the Bozeman Masters Swim Club have entered the Montana LMSC record books with their performances at the 2019 Fred Schwendeman Orthodontics May Classic, held at the Bozeman Swim Center last month. The U.S. Masters Swimming 2019 Spring Nationals in Mesa, Arizona wrapped up earlier today. There were some great performances by the 12 swimmers representing the Montana LMSC at this meet. A flurry of Montana records set by Albershardt and McNamara at Coeur D’Alene meet

Several members of the Big Sky Montana Masters and one member of the Missoula Masters traveled to Coeur D’Alene, ID this weekend to compete in the Kroc Masters February Flurry. Wendy McNamara lowered three of her Montana records in the 60-64 age group at the meet and a new name in our record books, Louise Albershardt, broke four Montana records in the 55-59 age group.

Charlotte Sanddal sets national and world record at Huntsman

Charlotte Sanddal traveled to St. George, Utah last month for the Huntsman World Senior Games. In addition to setting several Montana LMSC records at the meet (see latest SCM update), she also set a USMS national record and a FINA world record for women 95-99 in the 200 meter individual medley (short-course) with a time of 9:32.59. The national record has been confirmed. The world record won’t be updated until 60 days after the swim. Congratulations, Charlotte!

Ackley and Hastings continue to rewrite the record book

Ella Ackley and Pat Hastings traveled to Orlando, Florida recently to compete in the 2018 UANA Pan American Masters Championships. While there, they set a total of five state records. Hastings broke two W80-84 records formerly held by Charlotte Sanddal, in the 200m breast and the 200m I.M. Ackley broke three W75-79 records formerly held by Hastings, in the 50m free, 200m free and 200m back. Unofficially, a dozen Montana LMSC long course records were set or broken this weekend at the May Classic in Bozeman: In the W70-74 age group, Sue Harkin (Bozeman Masters) lowered her marks in the 200m breaststroke and the 200m individual medley and broke Jeanne Ensign’s records in the 800m freestyle and 1500m freestyle and Barb Jackson’s record in the 50m breaststroke. Butte physical therapist demolishing the M25-29 records

While many of us were at the Northwest Zone Championships in Missoula this past weekend, Butte Doctor of Physical Therapy and West Virginia University alumnus, August “Jake” Querciagrossa, was at the South Central Zone Championships in Texas, where he broke Montana LMSC records in every event he swam. He didn’t swim two events he entered, but those likely would have been record-breaking performances as well.
